Welcome!
Teaching art is my passion
From working with beginners to advanced students,
teaching art is my passion. I'm available for
workshops across the country and currently teach classes at the Naples
Florida Museum of Art.
Why choose me to lead your art workshop?
I have a long history of success teaching painting to adults. My classes
at the Pelican Marsh Community Center have been running at capacity (and
are often oversold) for the past 7 years. My class at the Naples
Museum of Art has been oversold for the past several years.
Why?
Teaching is truly an art
Most art teachers are artists first, teachers second. Most have no
background in the art of teaching. Teaching truly is an art.
Because I
have a M.S. in Education, I learned to communicate with students in a
way that helps them think as individuals. I strive to promote continuous
artistic growth in my students through helpful guidance. I never touch
their work with my brush, ever. Class discussions benefit everyone. My
attitude is accepting and encouraging. My goal is to help my students
paint in their own way and find pleasure in both the process and
product.
includes watercolor, acrylics,
and mixed media, and my
newest passion is fused glass.
Warm glass, or fused glass is the process of heating glass to extreme
temperatures until it melts together. I design my pieces just like a
collage; considering color, shape, and balance. The fun is in the fusing
process. It is really impossible for me to predict how colors will melt
and blend. Hard edges become soft and blurred. The fused sculpture has a
life of its own. I have become totally involved with the fusing process
and with the final product. Formatting my glass for display is my
current challenge. I think glass is the most exciting creative medium that I
have ever worked in.
My students’ work
is shown at an annual
exhibition and sale. Many of their works have been juried
into art shows around the country. I'm delighted to provide a
gallery of their work here on my web site. Please
browse and feel free to contact them if you would like more information.
